In the last few months I have finally completed a project that has been lazily going on for at least six years, in my spare time. Since, I mean, I realized – being very fond of vintage posters – that Cagliari had not experienced the great era of 20th century tourism affichisme. It was largely predictable, as until a few years ago Cagliari had never been among the most famous tourist destinations, and Sardinia was difficult to reach until the mid-50s. So I wanted to write a fiction: a style exercise – not very serious at all and for me a lot of fun – to match with the graphic trends of the last century. A first collection of 10 images came out, which became an entire collection of souvenirs for NIU Store.

Da quando, cioè, mi accorsi – da appassionato di poster d’epoca – che Cagliari non aveva vissuto la grande stagione dell’affichisme turistico del Novecento. Era prevedibile, in quanto fino a pochi anni fa Cagliari non era mai stata tra le mete turistiche più note, e la Sardegna era difficile da raggiungere fino alla metà degli anni 50. Così ho voluto scrivere una storia inventata: un esercizio di stile – molto poco serio e per me molto divertente – per confrontarmi con le epoche della grafica del secolo scorso.
