Nel corso di 25 anni passati all’Università di Cagliari, e dopo aver abortito la mia strada – in effetti, non molto convincente – di fisico, mi sono occupato anche dell’identità visiva dell’ateneo. Già nel 1997 disegnai una versione vettoriale e stilizzata dello stemma seicentesco, che aveva mille riproduzioni diverse e di scarsa definizione. Nel 2007 una ulteriore semplificazione porta il Garamond, che avevo scelto in precedenza, verso il Frutiger. Nel 2016 un cambiamento più radicale slega il cerchio dello stemma e propone una dicitura nuova, UNICA, acronimo – particolarmente fortunato – del ministero per l’indirizzo web. Come font si consolida il Franklin, che da diversi anni aveva caratterizzato la comunicazione istituzionale.
[ In the course of 25 years spent at the University of Cagliari, and after having aborted my path – in fact, not very convincing – as a physicist, I also dealt with the visual identity of the university. Already in 1997 I designed a vector and stylized version of the seventeenth-century coat of arms, which had a thousand different reproductions and of poor definition. In 2007 a further simplification brings the Garamond, which I had previously chosen, to Frutiger. In 2016 a more radical change unties the circle of the coat of arms and proposes a new, UNIQUE wording, an acronym – particularly fortunate – of the ministry for the web address.
